She was LUCKY to be alive, and we were LUCKY to have her

Today, our little Lucky dog of 14 years has gone to heaven. She has been the best dog any family could ask for. I picked her out and brought her home to beg for her when I was only 12 years old and my dad finally agreed. Soon afterwards though she, along with the rest of her litter, got Parvo and she was the only one to survive after a doctor took her to care for her. When she arrived back with us, we changed her name to Lucky because she was definitely lucky to be alive. She is the only dog most the of siblings have ever know (besides my Madison). She has been such a sweetheart and amazing friend to us all. We know she is in a better place and that we will see her again.

REST IN PEACE
our Lucky dog

A Special Place
You have a special place Dear Lord
that I know you'll always keep
A special place reserved for dogs
  when they quietly fall asleep
With large and airy kennels
and a yard for hiding bones
With maybe a little babbling creek
  that chatters over stones.
With wide green fields and flowers
  for those who never knew
about running freely under
  Your sky of perfect blue.
Lord,I know You keep this Special Place
And so to you I Pray,
For one Special Lucky
  Who quietly died today
She was full of strength & love
  and so very, very wise.
The puppy look she once had
Had long since left her eyes.
She is dearly missed my Lord
By a very good friend of mine.
She went to join her ancestors
To Your land that is Devine
So, speak to Lucky softly please
And give her a warm hello.
She's a Special gift to you Dear Lord
From the Bell's, who loved her so.

Your post made me want to cry. It is so hard to lose a dog. I love the pictures of her, especially the recent ones - they seem to capture her so well. So sorry to hear!

I was so sad to here that lucky was dieing!! Then you told me that she was going to be put to sleep and I wanted to cry and had to try hard to hold it in! Even though she is in a better place it is still sad to know that the last time I saw her was at christmas, and to think that I wont see her again when I go home is really sad to think about! She was such a great dog and I will miss her dearly! I love the poem and I wish that for her too!! I also love the pictures they are great except they made me cry since she is gone and wont be there when I come to visit!! She was loved dearly and we will all miss her!!
